Jesus Is Loose In the World

 ACTS IN 90 DAYS

A reading for Wednesday, October 7, 2020: Acts 28:17-22.

“We have received no letters from Judea about you, and none of the brothers coming here has reported or spoken anything evil about you."

It's clear now, in the book of Acts, that the movement of Jesus has transcended the Jewish leaders and made its way fully into the hands of the Gentiles and the common people. Yesterday we read how the average ordinary Roman had heard of Paul, and went a day's journey to meet him on the Appian way. But, today we read how the local leaders have no idea who Paul is? They have a vague objection to the "sect" he follows but have no real idea about who it is that is before them.

What was once under the so-called control of the Jewish officials has transformed and here at the end of Acts... Jesus is loose in the world. Thanks be to God.
