Same Faith

 ACTS IN 90 DAYS

A reading for Thursday, September 17, 2020: Acts 24:10-23.

"I have a hope in God—a hope that they themselves also accept—that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous."

It is in this moment that Paul proves that he is the man God would use to proclaim the gospel. He is certainly up to the challenge laid out by Tertullus, not falling into the trap of arguing a nationalistic or political argument to the Roman governor. Paul keeps his defense of Jesus Christ theological, proving that the Way was just a fulfillment of the same religion of his accusers. "This is the same faith they claim they have in the resurrection" is the message of Paul.

Felix is satisfied for the time being, continuing to hold Paul in prison but allowing him to have visitors and to be taken care of. Perhaps Felix wanted to keep Paul safe, knowing that his accusers were plotting his murder. Meanwhile we have nothing further is heard from the council or their attorney. They disappear into the background... Thanks be to God
