Except For These Chains

A reading for Tuesday, September 29, 2020: Acts 26:24-32.

"I pray to God that not only you but also all who are listening to me today might become such as I am—except for these chains.”

It's never easy to follow Jesus, and even today Agrippa gives the devastating news that Paul would have been released had he not asked to see the emperor. 

However, it's pretty clear that Paul is sincere in his hope that others would listen to his testimony about Jesus. He is patient with Festus and Agrippa, even when both question his sanity and his motivation. Paul wishes that all would embrace the same changes that he himself has undergone, finding new life and hope in Christ. Thanks be to God.
