Lead By Example

 ACTS IN 90 DAYS

A reading for Tuesday, August 18, 2020: Acts 18:24-28.

"On his arrival he greatly helped those who through grace had become believers"

Leadership in the church is not easy. Especially in these days, when the church is changing constantly, knowing how to encourage others in faith is a challenge.

Notice the example of Apollos. He was taught the basics of faith, and was willing to preach and to teach it to others. He was also willing to continue to learn, taking his cues from those that were already experienced. In time, and with the help of others, Apollos became a very effective leaders in the early church.

Perhaps when we are tapped for leadership, we might remember this story. Surely we have something to offer already, or we would not have been asked. But perhaps there is also much for us to learn from others, especially those that have already done what we are trying to do.

The church has always been a place where we lead with the example of all those that have come before us. Thanks be to God.
