Do You Have Spirit?
ACTS IN 90 DAYS
A reading for Wednesday, August 19, 2020: Acts 19:1-10.
"When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them..."
One of the unique theological convictions of Christianity is our belief in the Holy Spirit. It is the Spirit that enables faith, the Spirit that transforms us and the Spirit that moves us to action. Christians believe God is manifested in three parts, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God is the gift of faith upon which everything else occurs.
Paul taught this. When he arrived in Ephesus, he discovered the believers did not understand the Spirit of God. So he baptized them, and the Spirit descended upon them just as it had upon Jesus. In that moment, all power and grace was given to them, they became disciples.
The same Spirit of God is still working in us and in the world around us. We need only pay attention and listen and we will see power and grace in much the same way. Thanks be to God!
