New Blood

A reading for Friday, July 31, 2020: Acts 16:1-5.

"So the churches were strengthened in the faith and increased in numbers daily."

Paul invited Timothy to join in the ministry, following his split with Barnabas. Timothy seems to have been a breath of fresh air for Paul and the others, he was well spoken and well liked by everyone. As they continued their ministry from town to town, all the churches were strengthened.

Have you ever noticed how a new face can change things for a group of people? It's one of the reasons it's so important for churches to invite new members and to grow. The gifts of a congregation can be enhanced and fresh eyes have a way of transforming things in ways we just didn't see before.

We rightly celebrate the long time faithful in every church, but let's also celebrate when God sends us some new blood. Thanks be to God!
