A reading for Friday, July 3, 2020: Acts 12:20-24.

"But the word of God continued to advance and gain adherents."

Things change. Leaders come and go. There are good ones and not so good ones. That's why the founders invented the American experience, so that our nation would be governed by the people. It's not perfect but it works pretty well most of the time. Happy Birthday USA!

Oh yes, and one more thing. Things change. Leaders come and go, but the gospel continues "to advance and gain adherents." God remains the same. Thanks be to God.
