Success and Disappointment

ACTS IN 90 DAYS

A reading for Tuesday, June 30, 2020: Acts 12:1-5.

"While Peter was kept in prison, the church prayed fervently to God for him."

Even as the church was being planted in Antioch and the gospel of Jesus Christ was spreading through the Gentile world, back in Jerusalem... Peter is arrested by Herod and imprisoned.

The life of faith is rarely a straight line, from sin and separation from God to complete perfection and peace. For most of us, including Peter, suffering occurs along the way. Even as success is being found, there are still disappointments and setbacks. Perhaps that is an accurate description of the days we are living through.

Through it all the church prayed fervently, and still does. Thanks be to God.
