Don't Lose Hope!
ACTS IN 90 DAYS
A reading for Monday, June 8, 2020: Acts 9:1-19.
"But the Lord said to him, 'Go, for he is an instrument whom I have chosen to bring my name before Gentiles and kings and before the people of Israel"
Sometimes we negotiate with God. We know what we are doing is not right. Maybe, it's something we are not doing and know we should be doing. "God, if you meet me half way then I'll do my part."
Or... sometimes we don't even know that what we are doing is wrong and need an intervention. In today's lesson from Acts, Saul gets an intervention from God. He has no remorse at this point in the story for persecuting the church. In fact as chapter 9 opens, Saul has asked for official papers from the synagogue to ramp up his violence against the followers of Jesus. But then God intervenes. God seems to have something in mind for this man, even when nobody else sees it.
A friend and mentor of mine in ministry, the late Dr. Chip Summers said, "When life comes to a dead end, and when the road disappears, we can be grateful that God has something in mind."
What if today were the day for your intervention from God? Has life come to a dead end? Is the road forward invisible? Don't lose hope. Be grateful that God has something in mind for you. If Saul could become Paul, then God has the power to transform your life too.
Thanks be to God!
