A Story of Evangelism
A reading for Thursday, May 18, 2017: Acts 16:11-15.
Paul left the city...
He went to the river, outside the gates of protection...
The evangelist was seeking a group of women who were worshipping, not men which was the normal way of spreading religious faith...
Each of these three statements is an example of how the gospel was moving in a different way than the culture and most people expected. The Apostle was following the Spirit of God no matter where it was leading.
What would such a description sound like today?
The church moved back into the city...
They left the safety and security of their church buildings...
Those seeking to spread faith wanted to encounter the Spirit of God wherever Jesus was to be found, partnering with God for ministry not just in the places most people expected...
In the story of Paul, Lydia opened her heart to what Paul was saying. She was faithful.
There are men and women, boys and girls that will do the same with us today.
They will be faithful too.
