Witnesses!
A reading for Thursday, April 20, 2017: 1 Corinthians 15:1-11.
"...that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures..."
We might not believe it either, except that there are these stories of Jesus talking to people and eating meals with people and traveling with people. Paul said it was more than 500 people, including he himself as the "least apostle."
People in the years following Paul's age would die horrendous and torturous deaths absolutely refusing to deny that they had seen Jesus alive. Those that were there were utterly convinced that the most unimaginable thing happened. Death did not end Jesus. Jesus lives!
And because Jesus lives, everything that Jesus taught us about life and about hope lives too…
