It's Almost Time!

A reading for Wednesday, April 5, 2017: Luke 20:9-19.

Jesus nears Jerusalem now in the gospel of Luke. The long journey is nearly complete. The Lord knows what is to take place there, the danger that awaits his arrival...

Yet, Jesus goes into Jerusalem without violence or cruelty. He goes alone without protection, knowing that violence and cruelty will be done to him. Indeed he is the beloved son, "the stone that the builders rejected..."

Why would anyone do this?

Jesus goes to Jerusalem for you and for me and for all the world. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life."

The enemies of peace and justice will not celebrate the arrival of Jesus to Jerusalem. Will we? It's almost time!
