Faith Is Growing...
A reading for Thursday, April 27, 2017: Acts 1:12-17, 21-26.
In those days the crowd of followers of Jesus numbered about 120. From among those, Matthias was chosen by God as the twelfth disciple. The mission of God in Jesus Christ continued as they returned to Jerusalem, or perhaps as Peter said, was fulfilled even in Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus. God was moving!
Today, Christianity numbers 2.3 Billion worldwide. It is the largest faith community in the world, and encompasses 32% of world's population. Sometimes it might seem like our faith is on the decline and we wonder what is happening? However, that's just in the west. Truth is the Christian faith is growing rapidly in the southern hemisphere of the world, in Africa and South America. God is still moving!
The mission of God continues even now, or perhaps as Peter said, is being fulfilled...
