Easter Monday Beach Party!
A reading for Monday, April 17, 2017: Romans 5:12-21.
"...so one man’s act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all."
Today is the day we celebrate. It's the day we recognize the freedom we have been granted in Christ Jesus. We have been justified in Him. Our sins are forgiven. We are no longer guilty. Praise God!
Many years ago, friends and I arrived by sailboat to Bimini Island, Bahamas on Easter Monday. We anchored our boat, held our dry clothes above our heads, and swam through the warm blue water to the beach. There we discovered a small church holding an Easter Monday celebration. The members of that congregation immediately invited us to join their party. We sang and danced and enjoyed a roasted pig buried in the sand. It was an amazing day I will never forget, and I often wonder if heaven itself might be something like that!
Today is Easter Monday, and each year the memory of that beach party reminds me how free we are in Christ. We are free to enjoy life at its best. We are free to make new friends, no matter where we come from. We are free to live our lives in Christ without the burden of sin and death.
He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Let's celebrate...
