Ash Wednesday 2017

A reading for Ash Wednesday, March 1, 2017: Luke 9:51-62.

The season of Incarnation is over, the season of Resurrection is next. The glory of God in birth, will become the glory of God in rebirth. Now it’s time to make the turn and to re-enact the transition. When our Lord moves from glory to insult, and incarnated life to ultimately death. Today is Ash Wednesday...

Today we celebrate that Jesus our Lord has set his face to go to Jerusalem. It is now that we remember that though he knew what was to take place there, Jesus faithfully endured suffering, trial, and even death for our sake. He died to save us from death.

So we fast and we pray. We wear our ashes. We center our lives once again in Jesus our Christ.

"Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return."
-Genesis 3:19
