Along The Way
A reading for Wednesday, March 15, 2017: Luke 14:1-6.
The amazing thing about Jesus is how his ministry of grace happened along the way. In today's lesson he is on the way to a meal at the home of a Pharisee. When all of a sudden there is man with dropsy who is suffering. Jesus, knowing all the while that he is being watched by those hoping to catch him in an infraction they can exploit, heals the man anyway. Jesus performs/partners with the mission of God along the way... and nobody can argue.
Each and everyday we leave our homes we have the same opportunity. We need not wait for a church program or a planned mission trip. The mission of God is all around us. Jesus accompanies us for the journey. We will encounter those in need and can participate with what God is already doing in their lives through the power of Christ. Ministry happens out in the world in our coming and going, as we go out and as we come in... would any argue that Jesus still saves and heals along the way?

May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you,
wherever He may send you.
May He guide you through the wilderness,
protect you through the storm.
May He bring you home rejoicing
at the wonders He has shown you.
May He bring you home rejoicing
once again into our doors.
Amen.
