Who Wants The Credit?
A reading for Tuesday, February 21, 2017: Luke 9:46-50.
"There is no limit to the good you can do when you don't care who gets the credit."
-Ronald Reagan
It's a counter-cultural idea. Most like success and many are willing to do almost anything sometimes in order to get it. So anyone who is willing to lift others instead of themselves is not doing it the normal way.
Yet, when asked who was the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven, that's exactly how Jesus responded. "...for the least among all of you is the greatest." As disciples we should not be about getting famous or recognized for the good deeds we do.
It's an ancient temptation to want the glory for our actions of faith, but love and service for others is it's own reward.
Lord, may we be diminished so that you can be glorified. In Christ's name, Amen
