God is Love!

A reading for Tuesday, February 14, 2017: Luke 8:4-10.

"So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them." 

-1 John 4:16

What if the parable of the sower were more intentionally about love in our world today: God's love and our love for one another...

A believer in God's love went out to share his love with the world; and as he loved others, people were coming and going and love was overwhelmed by the busy world, and our calendars and schedules made it hard for people to make time for love.

Some people used love to sell things to others and to gain attention for themselves; but that kind of self-serving love isn't really love at all, so it didn't last very long.

Some people recognized love in the common humanity of all God's people, but then the political agendas of the powerful and the greedy divided one from another again so quickly and love was choked out before it could really take hold. 

Some of God's love was lived each and every ordinary day by disciples of Jesus who believed love was real and true, and though they weren't perfect at loving always getting it just right, their love was genuine and offered expecting nothing in return, and it spread to others all over the world. Love changed everything!

"As he (Jesus) said this, he called out, 'Let anyone with ears to hear listen!”
