Solomon On God's Promise
A reading for Thursday, October 27, 2016: 1 Kings 6:1; 8:14-21.
Solomon prayed for wisdom and the Lord granted it. Solomon was one of the greatest, most powerful kings of Israel. He commanded armies, had wealth the world has never seen again, and was revered and honored by other world leaders like none other before or since. Solomon was successful by every measure we can come up with...
What did Solomon offer as a blessing to his people? What wisdom did he share with them from his vast experience? Did he take credit for all his success? He simply said this:
"Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who with his hand has fulfilled what he promised..." Our God is a God who keeps promises, in the days of Solomon and even today. The promise of God today is that Jesus is the Messiah. He is the one who has come to save us. We will be saved!
So shall it be said and so shall it be done! According to God's promise.
