Pass It On!
A reading for Friday, October 14, 2016: Joshua 1:1-9.
Moses died and the next to be called to assume leadership over the people called the Israelites was Joshua. God told Joshua of the blessings of land and favor that would be theirs under his authority. God also gave to Joshua the book of covenant, in order that Joshua would follow the law just as Moses had done.
When we pass the faith from one generation to the next, we pass the blessings but we also pass the covenant obligations. Human nature is such that often we are ready for the good things, but not so ready to obligate ourself to someone or something.
Our relationship with God is just that. We enjoy the favor of God. Don't forget about our part of that relationship...
