Most Important!
A reading for Tuesday, October 11, 2016: Deuteronomy 1:19-33.
The details of the journey are important, but not most important.
As the Israelites begin to move out into the wilderness to live the covenant that God has given, in today's lesson we learn where they go and what they do. They travel to the land that is promised them. The leaders send out spies. Produce is brought back to feed the people. They assess the chances they have at taking this land from the Amorites. There is wondering and fear...
What is most important however, is that the Israelites remember that God is with them. Through all their journeying and wondering, God is with them. "The Lord your God, who goes before you, is the one who will fight for you, just as he did for you in Egypt before your very eyes, and in the wilderness, where you saw how the Lord your God carried you, just as one carries a child, all the way that you traveled until you reached this place." This is what is most important.
We must remember the same. Each of us will live our journey today. We will go and we will do. There will be wondering and maybe even fear. Remember that God is with you! Trust in the Lord. I say again, trust in the Almighty God who accompanies each of us through whatever journey we take. This is what is most important!
