The Compassion Miracle

A reading for Monday, May 9, 2016: Luke 5:12-16.

Maybe the greatest miracle of Jesus is in the compassion that Jesus was always able to find for others. No matter how many were in the crowd, from the beginning of the day until the end, Jesus always chooses to heal and demonstrate the love of God with compassion.

We might read the last line of the lesson today, "he would withdraw to deserted places and pray," and believe there is something secret or mysteriously powerful. If we did the same, could we approach the world with the same compassion?

Perhaps it would help, but there is no question that Jesus was able (is able) to do things that we are not able to do. We simply cannot heal and demonstrate compassion like Jesus did. Our only hope is to continue to cast our cares and our prayers into his loving arms.

He still chooses to heal us!
