Keep It Simple

A reading for Thursday, May 12, 2016: Luke 8:40-56.

When things get confusing and difficult and we aren't sure which way to turn, often the best thing to do is to keep it simple. Our tendency is to start making a bunch of adjustments, to try and change things to fix what ails us. It's better just to focus on the simplest thing we can imagine. Do the simple and things will begin to change.

When faced with the news that Jairus' daughter had died Jesus replied “Do not fear. Only believe, and she will be saved.” The simplest act we might imagine at that moment comes from Jesus. Do not be afraid. Just believe.

Jesus has the power to save. Jesus has the compassion to save. Trust in Jesus and be at peace!
