RIOT!!!
A reading for Friday, April 22, 2016: Acts 19:23-41.
What a dramatic story! A riot in Ephesus over the teachings of Paul. It seems the silversmiths were not happy that Paul was turning the business of idol making away from them. Even religion can be a business and those with a vested interest in the business of religion cannot be trusted to reform it. It was so dangerous that many feared for Paul's safety and urged him to stay away from the crowd.
Yet Paul knew his work and his mission. He knew the words of the Lord from Luke 10 to declare peace to the places and the people he met along the way. So he proclaimed peace! He lived peace! He demanded peace!
In the end, there was peace!
