Pray For The City

A reading for Tuesday, April 12, 2016: Acts 4:23-31.

Prayer is the way we participate with God in what God is doing in the world. The early Apostles in Acts prayed for the city in which Jesus was crucified. They were seeking God's goodness and the transformation of the city and the world in which they lived...

There is a church here in East Nashville that started with prayer. Each and every day the pastor and a couple of others walked the streets of the neighborhood in prayer. They looked for the ways God was moving in the city. They participated with what God was doing by praying for God's goodness and the transformation of the city and the world in which they lived...

Imagine if every church in a city not only started that way, but remained in prayer for the city and the neighborhood in which it was located. Imagine if every church participated in what God was doing by praying for God's goodness and the transformation of the city and the world in which they lived...

"When they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness."
