No April Fool's Day Prank
A reading for Friday, April 1, 2016: John 11:1-44.
"Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died." Both Mary and Martha grieved and mourned over the brother they loved so much. "Jesus wept."
And then resurrection!
Thanks be to God... We never have to pray the prayer of Mary and Martha again, because of Easter. Jesus is always here, everywhere. There is no place we can go where Jesus is not already. Nobody we love ever has to die again. Jesus will not weep, and neither must we weep that those we love are lost. We weep because we miss them, but not because they are gone. We know we will see them again.
It's sounds like an April Fools prank that such news could be true.
Yet it is true!
Jesus lives and because he lives, we live.
Because he lives, those we love live.
Easter is no April Fool's Day Prank!
Easter is the proof of just how much God loves us.
