Live the Story!

A reading for Wednesday, April 6, 2016: Luke 24:13-35.

GATHER: It begins with... "When he was at the table with them, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him..."

WORD: Each week we gather and we tell the Jesus story, "Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them the things about himself in all the scriptures." Through preaching and teaching we continue to reenact the Word.

RESPOND: The communion meal then is our continuing participation with Jesus. In it, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he was talking to us on the road." In this meal we come to know Jesus in a special, almost unexplainable way. We respond with prayer and liturgy.

SEND: Then we are sent back to those we know, and those we are called to know. We tell "what had happened on the road, and how he had been made known to (us) in the breaking of the bread."

This story is about Christian worship and celebrating the eucharist. We are grateful that we continue not only to hear this story and to read it, but also to live it. Thank you God!
