Can You Imagine?
A reading for Thursday, April 7, 2016: Luke 24:36-49.
Can you imagine how it would change your faith and life if you had seen Jesus in the flesh, with the holes in his hands and feet? How would you be different if you had enjoyed just one more meal with the Lord? Would you hear the call to witness differently if you had experienced the risen Jesus in such a way?
In Luke, what makes us different and yet the same as the first Apostles is the gift of the Holy Spirit. The same Spirit that comes upon them comes upon each of us, granting us the gift of faith, and the power to live is also the Spirit that calls us to witness. It's as if we too were there in that upper room to see and touch Jesus.
Truth is receiving the Holy Spirit is the same as seeing the Risen Christ!
