A Woman To Blame...

A reading for Tuesday, December 22, 2015: Exodus 1:8-2:10.

For such a patriarchal faith, look at how important the women of the story are...

There is Shiphrah and Puah, the midwives who disobey the power of Pharaoh in order to save the Hebrew boys. How about Moses mother, who hides the child, places him in a basket, and sets him afloat in order to save him? Then we have Pharaoh's daughter, the princess of Egypt who also knows the child is Hebrew and disobeys her father to save the child to be her own.

Over and over again, it is the power of women in the story that make the difference. Look at your own family. I bet there are women that make the difference there too. Especially at the holidays, in most homes and families nothing would happen without women.

As we get closer to Christmas Eve, the greatest night in the history of man, look closely again into the stable. Is it not a woman who brings the child into the world? Thanks be to God!
