Nothing Between Friends!

A reading for Thursday, October 22, 2015: Proverbs 18:24.

Greg Tamblyn said, "Friends are people who know you really well and like you anyway!"

As the Proverbs indicate, our world is full of people who play at friendship. They are friends for social reasons, or business transactions, or because you as a friend can lead them to another friend. To be used for friendship is perhaps worse than having no friends at all. These friends are the ones who can't be counted on...

True friends know you and all your skeletons. There are no masks between real friends. When things go just right, they are there to celebrate with you. When they go wrong, they are there to cry with you, precisely because they know you and not just your accomplishments or your failures.  They are friends not for what's in it for them, but what's in it for both of you. Nothing comes between true friends.

Again I say, true friendship is perhaps the rarest blessing of all.

If you have one, then give thanks to God!
