God Walks With Us!

A reading for Friday, October 23, 2015: Daniel 3:1-27.

"For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” (Matthew 18:20)

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to worship the idols of Nebuchadnezzar. They stood up two the greatest power of the age, as much as the old king could throw at them. When the servants of the king peered into the furnace to report the death of the three friends who had stood up to Nebuchadnezzar, they were astonished to see a fourth "with the appearance of a god" walking with them.

Our God is God of relationships. God is to be found in the midst of human relationships, and in the Holy Trinity between the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. When we gather and depend on one another, for support and even for laughter and joy, we are leaning into God's mercy and grace. And God walks with us... In Peace!
