Persistence

A reading for Friday, August 14, 2015: Mark 10:46-52.

Sometimes persistence is all we have to go on... when our energy is flickering, our beauty is fading, and our wisdom is foolishness. When all our plans have not turned out like we hoped. When luck is against us, and not even prayer seems to make any difference ... persistence!

That's what the blind man from Jericho knew... He called out to Jesus, and nobody heard him. Then he called out louder and the people told him to hush. But he called out again and again, each time louder and louder, each time with even more persistence ...and Jesus answered!

I don't know what ails you or where you find yourself this day... but I do know that persistence is what makes life and faith possible. “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” ...and if that doesn't work, say it again, LOUDER!
