The Message and the Messenger
A reading for Friday, March 6, 2015: John 5:30-47.
The message is not the same as the messenger, and belief in the message is not the same as belief in the messenger.
Sometimes we get stuck trying to understand the message. We study and we learn, and we fill our heads with knowledge and understanding. Bible study is good, but that's not the same as trusting Jesus.
In today's lesson, Jesus urges us as disciples to take him into our heart. That's different from understanding. It's based not on what we know at all, but on obedience to who God said Jesus was and what he came to do.
Believe in God, and fill your heart with Jesus!
It's a peace that surpasses all understanding.
