Good Religion
A reading for Thursday, March 26, 2015: John 10:19-42.
“I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these are you going to stone me?”
Religion often divides people, just as the lesson today reminds us. Division comes from our desire for power and control, to get our own way justifying what we believe as right and what someone else believes as wrong. We continue to fight wars all over the planet earth out of such division. This kind of religion isn't helpful...
Jesus reminds us that religion is meant to be good, to demonstrate the goodness of God who has created us, the grace of God who saves us making us free, and the presences of God who continues to sustain us even now for goodness. At it's best, religion is about good works and it is those good works that honor God.
It is this good religion that makes the world a better place. Thanks be to God!
