From The Mountain

A reading for Friday, February 6, 2015: Mark 9:2-13.

For generations faith was primarily about the law and the prophets. Moses represented the law and Elijah the prophets.

Then came Jesus, who was connected to both as the Word that was from the beginning. And from the mountain God said, “This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him!”

From that day, faith in Christ is how we as God's people live in the valley of the mountain. Nothing can change our hope in our Lord.

Moses was faithful to the law, Elijah to the prophets. Jesus Christ was faithful even to the point of death, and we are saved.

Thanks be to God. Amen.
