It's The Same Jesus

A reading for Tuesday, January 6, 2015: Matthew 12:14-21.

It's the same Jesus, 12 chapters later into the book of Matthew...

The same Jesus that we remember during the Christmas season only a few days ago. As a baby, with no power and no control, Jesus was born to be a servant. As he grew into a man Jesus listened to the Spirit put upon him by God the Father, and brought good news and justice to all the world. Not with force of a mighty king, but in offering himself for the life of the world.

It's the same Jesus, now some 2000 years later...

We that follow Jesus are still called to be a servant. Ours is the way of listening for the guiding of the Spirit and offering ourselves too for the life of the world. This is how the good news of God continues to march ahead into the future. We don't trade on power and control, but instead on following as disciples the same Jesus we remember from the Christmas season only a few days ago.

Today is Epiphany in the Christian church, the twelfth day of Christmas. Epiphany is the celebration of the manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles and the spreading of the gospel to all the earth. As we celebrate it's important that we remember...

It's the same Jesus!
