What's the first thing you did when you returned to work after the Christmas break? How about the first thing you did when resuming your school schedule? What's the first thing you committed yourself to in the new year 2015?
We can tell a lot about what's important to us when we consider what we do first. It's a window into our priorities and our commitments. It might even be subconscious, but it communicates volumes of information. What did you do first?
The very first miracle Jesus performs in the gospel of John is a party. Jesus turns water into wine. He uses the water jars designed for Jewish purification and he turns them into the best wine for the wedding guests to enjoy. He brings joy to the whole assembly first. Jesus demonstrates that God is committed to joy, and well being is a priority in the Kingdom of God. God loves us and wants us to be happy...
