Deeply Loved
A reading for Friday, January 23, 2015: Mark 4:35-41.
Brennan Manning, author of the Ragamuffin Gospel, writes, "My deepest awareness of myself is that I am deeply loved by Jesus Christ and I have done nothing to earn it or deserve it."
What if faith were simply that? The knowledge that we are deeply loved by Jesus Christ, not because of what we have done or not done, not because of how right we have been or how wrong. Do you know that God loves you?
I wonder if that's the kind of faith that Jesus is talking about when he is awakened in the back of the boat caught in the midst of the storm. Did you forget that God loves you? Do you not know how much God cares?
"Peace! Be Still!"
