Division and Challenge
A reading for Monday, December 29, 2014: John 7:37-52.
When is the last time our message of faith caused division among believers and a challenge to those in charge?
Jesus said he was about sharing blessings for those in need.
He said those blessings were for those that believed and would be found in the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said the Holy Spirit would come upon those that believed and they would be able to share the abundance of their blessings with the world.
The Chief Priests didn't like the message or the messenger. Jesus was a challenge to their authority and their power as those in charge of the blessings of God. There was division among them. Some thought he was the prophet, some the Messiah, and some a criminal.
If our message of faith doesn't cause the same division and challenge among the authorities and the power of those in charge today, then perhaps we have missed something important.
