Do We Know Our Blessing?

A reading for Tuesday, September 16, 2014: John 12:9-19.

The crowd knew who Jesus was. They gathered to worship him and to see the miracles he performed.

The Chief Priests and religious authorities knew who Jesus was. They plotted against Jesus and Lazarus.

Then there is a note in today's text... "His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written of him and had been done to him." The disciples did not know who Jesus was even now, when it seems everyone else already did.

Sometimes we don't realize the blessings that are already present all around us. Others see it. Even those that are enemies see our gifts, sometimes before we do. Jesus is just as present with us as he was with those earliest disciples.

Take some time today to count your blessings and to appreciate the gifts God has provided. God has provided more abundantly than we know. Know that Jesus deserves our glory and our praise!

“Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord— the King of Israel!”
