A reading for Wednesday, August 6, 2014: John 1:29-42.

And John testified, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him."

The greatest power we have as disciples of Jesus spreading the gospel is simply telling the story of what God is doing in the world around us. This power comes for us in our ability to listen and to seek out God not just in the church or in the practice of our religion, but also in participating with our neighbors in everyday life. What is God up to here?

Pointing out where God is already working in the lives of those around us, and practicing authentic faith in our everyday lives, is how others learn how to follow Jesus for themselves.

"He (Jesus) said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where he was staying, and they remained with him that day."
