He Knows You
A reading for Thursday, August 7, 2014: John 1:43-51.
When Jesus calls the disciples to follow him, he already knows who they are. He knows what they bring to the mission of spreading the good news. The calling of the disciples is not a careless or thoughtless invitation on the part of our Lord. Jesus already knows those he calls.
So why would we believe it to be any different in the Lord calling us? When Jesus invites us to "come and see" and to follow him, he already knows us. He knows our gifts and our shortcomings, and that's exactly the reason we are called to follow. You are the one Jesus wants as disciples. We are the ones Jesus needs for the mission of God.
Answer the call to follow Jesus... and you will see greater things than you imagine. Jesus said, “Very truly, I tell you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”
