Asking Different Questions

A reading for Tuesday, July 1, 2014: Matthew 21:23-32.

When it comes to matters of faith, often we are asking the wrong questions. Who's in charge of me? What do I have to do? Is God pleased with my choices?

It's not that the questions aren't important. They are. It's just that they aren't the ones that will bring us life. Instead, let's change the conversation. Let's ask different questions...

What is God up to in the world? Where do I join with what God is already doing? What is good news for my neighbor? my neighborhood? my city?

These are Kingdom of God questions and these are the ones that bring us life.
