Accepting the Amazing
A reading for Wednesday, July 2, 2014: Matthew 21:33-46.
Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the scriptures: ‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord’s doing, and it is amazing in our eyes’?"
The question mark is curious in what Jesus says to the crowd. Is it amazing in their eyes? Is what the Lord doing even now amazing to us?
The Pharisees were not willing to accept what the Lord was doing, even though they should have known to expect it. They were angry and wanted to destroy the good news. Are we willing to accept the amazing doing of our Lord?
Truth is, God is still acting in mighty ways bringing the fruit of the kingdom to harvest. We know the Son who comes to collect. May we welcome him into our expectations today... as the amazed people of our Amazing God.
