PRESBYTERIANS TO CLOSE ALL IT'S CHURCHES ACROSS THE USA
Louisville, KY - April 1, 2014 - The Presbyerian Church USA (PCUSA) announced today a comprehensive plan to close all of it's churches nationwide. In a letter made available at the national headquarters the Stated Clerk of the PCUSA, The Reverend Gradye Parsons, wrote, "It has become more and more apparent over the last few decades that most neighborhoods no longer need a local congregation. Presbyterians have always been serious about meeting people where they are, so today the PCUSA is announcing the creation of a national grocery store chain called "4000 Foods." The plan is to renovate local churches into grocery store outlets one neighborhood at a time, replacing pews with attractive shelving for food for sale, until every person has access to affordable healthy food. Parsons urged Presbyterians to become more focused and streamlined when it comes to offering the gospel to neighbors. "Why collect food for those in need on a small scale as just one aspect of our ministry together, when we could take the commandments of Jesus to feed my sheep literally?" As part of the marketing campaign, the PCUSA introduced a new logo that includes loaves and fishes forming the number 4000. The plan also includes weekly worship at each grocery outlet. Those attending worship for the first time will be given a free easter shopping bag.
