Merry Christmas!

A reading for Wednesday, December 25, 2013: John 3:31-36

Christmas Day!  The day the world changed.  This is the day God came down to us from above, and made his dwelling with man.  "The One who comes from above is above all;" says the text from John.  The One from above gives "Spirit without measure."  The One from above gives "eternal life."  

The world was lost, spinning downward into loss and decay.  There was darkness and despair.  No goodness.  No life was to be found...

God whispered "Emmanuel."

...and the world changed in a moment of birth.  Out of love, God created beauty and life.  The One from above came to us, even us, and has given us beauty and life.  The world is new again today.  Love has come down and we are saved.

Go, Tell It On The Mountain,

Over the hills and everywhere;

Go, Tell It On The Mountain

That Jesus Christ is born.
