A New Year's Invitation
A reading for Tuesday, December 31, 2013: John 5:1-15
The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over and expecting different results.
Jesus encounters the man who had been ill for 38 years and yet wasn't able to do what was necessary to get well. Jesus asks him, “Do you want to be made well?”
Many of us want a deep spiritual relationship, connecting us to God and to those we love in ways that matter to faith and life. We hope to be made well, freeing us from anxiety and the stress of post-modern life.
However, are we willing to do what's necessary to get well? Jesus said, “Stand up, take your mat and walk.”
On this last day of 2013, I challenge us all to make a commitment to do just that as well. Consider this your official invitation to join me in 2014 in a daily devotional journey right here at "Peace to This House!"
May 2014 be the best year ever of the journey with God to faith and the abundance of life. For us all... Happy New Year!
